NBCN is a volunteer, local newspaper, designed to report the news that
matters to our community.

The founders of our country knew that a vital, active press was important
to our democracy. Back then, different newspapers offered
different perspectives to keep the public informed and add to vigorous
public debate.

Unfortunately, in recent years, big media mergers have been putting the usual news outlets under the control of a few, large corporations - resulting in a
homogenized and decidedly corporate-conservative perspective dominating
news coverage.

That's why, across the country, local newspapers like this one are being
created.

There are two ways to get involved:

One way is to get e-mail news updates about important news affecting our

But what if you're interested in writing for NBCN?
Great! NBCN is a volunteer news source, so it only works if people volunteer their time to write about what's happening in the community . . . things like:

• Events, meetings and items
• of interest in our local schools.
• Neighborhood events and
• meetings.
• Things happing in local
• community organizations.
• Things happening in any part
• of city government.
• State, local and national
• political items.
• Any other news that our
• community should know about.
